Seriously though… shows get cancelled all the damn time. That’s not a reason NOT to fight for representation. When people fight to SAVE their shows, it’s not because the guy who holds the boom might lose his job, it’s because they don’t want to lose out on their own entertainment. Nobody says “BUT BUT THE POOR LIGHTING GUY!” No. Because they still HAVE a job working for the studios or whatever and will be assigned to the NEXT show that comes along. The actors? They’ll find new work. Why is it these arguments only come up when it comes to YOUR ENTERTAINMENT versus OUR LIVES?

“they still have a job working for the studio and will be assigned the next show” GIRL do you know literally anything about tv production because THAT’S NOT HOW IT WORKS. If the show ends/gets cancelled, every. single. crew member is fucked and has to look for a new job which 10000 other people are also competing for. Same with actors. They can’t just up and grab another series regular role. They’re not Angelina Jolie. It’s impossible for actors to find big jobs like these even if they are well known and have great agents.

also, like, it’s not “our entertainment vs. your lives.” you are in no danger. it’s “our representation vs. your lack of representation.”

there should absolutely be more lesbian and wlw in general representation in media! nobody is arguing that fact.

but you literally do not have to take representation away from bi ppl, disabled ppl, and poc, to make that happen. we should be fighting to add to the rep that the 100 offers, not trying to replace it with different kinds of rep, or take it away and hope something better might land in its place. we should be raising money to kickstart an all-queer-woc show on netflix or something, not billboards that vilify a show with a bisexual female lead and a lead moc.
