tbh i’d be a lot more willing to listen to yall critique bellamy blake’s character if it was more than victim-blaming rhetoric that takes a massive dump on self-care, actively disregards the previous two seasons and also half of season 3, and just calls him things like “genocide king” over and over but 95% of the time yall just keep proving me right

like honestly i’m more hard pressed to find a bellamy stan who doesn’t totally erase his flaws, than someone who hates bellamy and totally erases every good thing he’s ever done

i couldn’t stand bellamy for a pretty long time, most of season one tbh. i know he’s fucked up, i know he’s done fucked up things, and i acknowledge that but i also know he’s more than made up for his past mistakes, especially in comparison to a lot of the other characters on this show whom yall aren’t afraid to glorify and its gotten to the point where there’s very clearly a double standard within this fandom that yall just flat out refuse to ever admit

the same ppl who were bending over backwards to defend lexa abandoning her allies to die were calling for bellamy’s head when he PARTICIPATED in the killing of what he believed to be a viable threat like sure yall can argue all day long that its different bc lexa didn’t actively help the mountain men try to kill the sky people but she basically handed the executioner his axe and stepped back and yall didn’t have any issues seeing things from her pov??? really

ive forgiven and come to understand her by now just like ive forgiven and come to understand bellamy but why is she more deserving of yalls empathy and comprehension than bellamy? #no sense

combined with the fact that most anti-bellamy posts ive seen are frothing at the mouth for him to be canonically abused as just another in the line of poc/loved ones hit by his white sister and yall expect me to think ur just “giving an unbiased opinion” while U accuse ME of being the one blinded by my emotions? nah

and keep in mind that yalls big punchline “he forgives himself so now we’re supposed to???” is pretty fucking harmful towards victims of abuse, which is literally what bellamy blake is. it was a hugely important moment, when bellamy told HIS ABUSER that he didn’t kill lincoln, that he didn’t deserve what she did to him. bc it was TRUE and that’s something that most abuse victims have to realize at some point, esp when we’ve been abused by someone we love and trust, who told us it was OUR FAULT that we were being hurt by them, that we’d deserved and earned it. the same things yall were spouting out about bellamy for months leading up to that scene. and then yall mock his first IMPORTANT step at self-forgiveness and self-care and u have the gall to call him abusive??? look in the mirror

so yeah, i’d be a lot more open to discussing bellamy’s flaws if it involved anything other than shitting all over abuse victims, and bellamy’s entire characterization. trashing a character is not the same thing as criticizing them. yall lost the right to claim ur critiques are “unbiased” the minute u started cheering on abuse
